The Call

Every adventure begins with a call. This call usually takes the form of a herald, a relay of information. This messenger will typically act as a guide for the early stages of the journey, but doesn’t always stick around till the end. Sometimes, the messenger ends up being the final adversary obstructing victory. The call and the herald have been around since the dawn of storytelling, and the earliest incarnations were the storytellers themselves.

Here, I am the messenger and this is the call. Beyond my beckoning lies the realm of adventure, a journey free for you to take. A choice must be made, to leave behind the safety of the known and plunge into the depths of mystery, or to stay put. Many are those who refuse the call, but those that accept are likened to be changed.

Every step you take from here on out is one either towards or away from the threshold. You will find that every moment you face in your life is the threshold. Learn to live the adventure with every breath. That is the purpose of storytelling, to teach to recognize the symbols of the adventure in the benign and everyday. You are the hero; this is your journey.

There is your sword in the stone, your lady in the water. The adventure awaits.
